Business 101 - How to Start A Home Inspection Business

I understand the motivation that drives us to work every morning. It is the desire to provide a better life for ourselves and our families. Many of us have spent countless hours doing so. I used to spend an average of 60-70 hours per week at work alone – excluding travel time, which is 41% of my week spent on working! Over the years, I concluded that climbing the corporate ladder will increase my income and provide me with sufficient family time. But sadly, it wasn’t so.

After years of enduring late nights and early mornings, I got a call while at work about one of my children involving the police. This came as a wake-up call, it was time for a change and I needed to be more present in the lives of my family.

So I took a leave of absence and during that month I decided to walk away from my high-earning job to figure out how I could earn money while being closer to my family. I was not handy and going into construction was never a part of my plans for work. Then I came across an opportunity to learn a high-paying skill, that being a home inspector. It had a low barrier of entry so I went for it. 

Don’t get me wrong, I am not asking you to quit your day job and start a business. I am only trying to help you assess the life you are currently living. Is it everything you hoped it would be?
